California Black Freedom Fund

In 2020, we launched the California Black Freedom Fund with the goal to ensure California’s ecosystem of Black power-building organizations have the sustained support they need to eradicate systemic and institutional racism. In 2022, we have seen that initial idea evolve into bold action.

We’re excited to share CBFF’s 2022 Mid-Year Report: Demonstrating Impact, where you’ll find information and data from two years of grantmaking, as well as inspirational stories from some of our grantees and network leaders.

This year, we distributed our third and fourth rounds of grantmaking. Round Three awarded $6.5 million to three Black power-building networks and Round Four awarded $4.3 million to 17 Black-led policy and advocacy organizations, for a total of $10.8 million going towards organizations and movements that are changing culture, policy, and systems in our state.

Check out the report now to learn more about our work so far and how you can help us address the challenges California’s Black organizers and movement leaders are facing.

Stay tuned to hear more from our grantees in upcoming blogs!
